Tarkmanchats Don & Artsakh Relief

Dear Families,

Please see the below news regarding Tarkmanchats Don and the two relief initiatives for our fellow Armenians displaced from Artsakh.

Reminder – Tarkmanchats Don

A reminder that this Sunday 15/10, we are commemorating Tarkmanchats Don.

  • All students up to Year 8 are to meet in the Church Hall on Sunday 15/10 @ 11:45am in full uniform.
  • Students will attend mass and take communion, followed by a small presentation in the Church Hall.
  • A light lunch will be provided to students.
  • The event is expected to conclude by 2:30pm.

Artsakh Relief – Monetary Donations

Thank you to all the families that donated funds to support our fellow Armenians that have been displaced from their homeland in Artsakh. Aginian Armenian School is delighted by the support of our community, and pleased to announce that the school will be matching all monetary donations. If you haven’t had a chance to donate yet, don’t worry – donations are open until this weekend and cash is preferred (big or small, every bit helps).

The conflict in Artsakh has displaced over 100,000 of our fellow Armenians, leaving so many without homes, food, or basic necessities. All funds collected from this drive are being forwarded to All For Armenia, an organisation that has a team on the ground in Armenia right now, and are providing humanitarian aid to those in need (there are even Armenian Australians on the relief team in Armenia). By way of example, each $80 (AUD) that is collected can provide one family with food and hygiene products for two weeks.

Artsakh Relief – Tote Bags

Last weekend, the eldest child from each Aginian family was sent home with an Aginian Armenian School tote bag. We’d love to use this opportunity to collect clothes, toys and books. Each of these tote bags will be sent to Armenia, and will go to children that have been displaced from Artsakh to support them in their new life in Armenia.

It takes time to ship everything over (the donations may not arrive in Armenia for a couple of months), so please return your tote bags this weekend to allow us to forward them to the central collection point in time. Items should be ‘as new’ or ‘near new’, and items such as toys, books or clothing are perfect.
