Armenian Aginian School, named after the late Mr Arthur Aginian who financially contributed to the school during the years 1975-1985, has been serving the Melbourne-Armenian community since its establishment in 1968.

Aginian was founded by our first resident Parish Priest Vosgan Kalpakian and Mrs Sirarpi Der Avedissian who continued to serve as Principal for 40 years.

Armenian Aginian School has a rich history and a strong commitment to serving the Melbourne-Armenian community. With over five decades of dedication to preserving Armenian heritage and educating future generations, the school plays a pivotal role in connecting families, comprising of Armenian and mixed marriages and fostering a sense of unity. The fact that many former students are now returning as parents or even educators themselves speaks to the lasting impact the school has had.

the school offers a well-structured and comprehensive educational experience, from early childhood all the way through to Year 12. The VCE LOTE Units 1-4 are a great opportunity for students who want to strengthen their language skills while also earning additional ATAR scores for their exams, which is an excellent way to support their future academic paths.

The Saturday schedule from 2:00-5:30pm is also noteworthy, as it allows students to engage in language learning while balancing their regular school commitments during the week.

The school’s adherence to the Victorian Languages Curriculum F-10 ensures that it meets educational standards, and the regular accreditation checks from the Department of Education and Training (DET) and the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA) maintain a high level of accountability and quality.

Being a member of Community Languages Victoria also connects the school with other language-focused educational institutions, further enriching its community and resources.
